Overview
This white paper describes about the convergence of two significant trends that we are seeing across our client base, and also the four specific drivers that are causing people to think about transforming their data centers.

Two significant trends that we are seeing across our client base are:

1) Environmental, dealing with energy use, pollution and carbon footprint, and
2) Economic, dealing with the steadily rising energy cost and the need to replace a significant amount of the world’s data centers.

The four specific drivers that are causing people to think about transforming their data centers are:

1) The first is aging data centers. More than half of all data centers will have to relocate to new facilities or outsource. This transition is causing people to not only consider the design and form factor of their data centers, but also location. Proximity to clean, reliable and low cost energy is now a major consideration.
2) The second driver is high-energy costs. Total electricity cost for a typical high-density data center is 42% of OPEX.
3) The third driver is the resource shortage. The pool of qualified senior technical management professionals will shrink by 45%. Like the scarcity of energy there is a scarcity of people with the engineering process and management skills to most efficiently run data centers.
4) The fourth driver is business continuity and availability.
